WAYS TO GET INVOLVED

Join a special event team.

Do you have an idea for a workshop, lecture-demonstration, or other event that would enhance community dialogue and spark an exchange of ideas in Clarkston?  Volunteer to help organize or staff a special event.  It's a great way to promote civic engagement and meet neighbors. Contact us to learn more.

Sort books.

Visit the library any Friday or Saturday during operating hours (10:00-5:00) to categorize and store donated and non-circulating books for our sales. To volunteer, contact us first. Then come to the circulation desk and sign in with a library staffer.  Stay as little or as long as you'd like.

Distribute flyers.

Say "hello" to Clarkston's many friendly shopkeepers and spread the word about events at the library.  Join the flyer distribution team and drop off announcements at restaurants, shops, faith communities, schools, and other places where folks gather.  Contact us for details.

Post events on Nextdoor.

Are you a member of Nextdoor.com?  Help post about library and Friends news at this key social media site for Clarkston and nearby communities.  As a member of the NextDoor team, you would be asked to post just two events per month from the library’s online calendar … and it’s perfectly fine to pick your favorite events!

Help with our e-newsletter.

Do you have good writing skills? Help the library maintain community connections as a newsletter article contributor.  Sign up to write one short article (max. 250 words) about a Clarkston Library initiative or someone who uses library resources to enhance local community life. Our 2020 newsletter will be published quarterly. Contact us for details.
